I've been to so many Bay Area Tung Kee restaurants and this is one of my top three! Here on a weds afternoon at 5:30p and it's pretty dead in here. And guess what?! The soup is hot and tasty! Just as I remembered. I particularly like this one because it's the only one that allows me to have vermicelli and yellow noodle in my wonton combo noodle!
I also asked for extra fried pork skin and soup and they didn't charge me extra for either one, most do.
Sadly, the prices here have also increased ~$2 or so for most menu items. Good news is that they are still cooking up the same stuff and cooking it good.
Service is outstanding. The two ladies working here were hungry and eating their meals but still were so helpful and attentive. -

Called in to place an order, 30 minutes before closing. They took our order and said we were on our way and hung up. We showed up 15 minutes later and then had the doors closed and did not let us in saying they were closed. There was still 15 minutes till closing and she did not put in our order because the "cooks left" yet there were people in the kitchen. Terrible Customer service.

Petty scams with sales tax
Food is great. However, every time I order from here I always end up paying a different price for the same meal. My meal was $10.00 on the menu (#24) and I was charged $11.20 for it. Last time I checked, CA sales tax is 9.25%
I asked for a receipt but the cashier was hesitant to print one out. Instead, she gave me a false receipt for 2 sodas with my total written out on the back.
It's not the end of the world paying a few more nickels and dimes. However, this establishment shows a pattern of adding more to your total every time you check out. -

I expected to much and was dragged down horrible with basically everything here. I gave it a try because it was nearby, despite all the terrible down-rated comments previously.
So first, let me clarify: their food doesn't taste authentic at all. We had Mi Bo Kho and Hu tieu mi bo kho, they tasted like the premade flavor cube broth, very bland and not deicious at all. The beansprout smell really weird like it has been out for days. We was excited a bit because they did put various part of beef in (like tendon, shank and stuff), but it was tasteless and does not help anything with the dish. There were not even the herbs or garnishing veggies like other places! It was so not authentic. And we half 3 pieces of carrot each dishes, but they were not bite-sized; they were huge and looked like the kitchen was too lazy to chop them. Though 2 bowls were the same price, one of them had more meat than the other hmh.
Customer service is horrible too. We came in when it was empty and there was only 1 group of customer. The cashier (a woman looks like she was the boss too) did not greet or welcome. She was very cold.
I'm so sad I actually gave this place a try. Honestly guys if you are looking for a good restaurant with at least moderate food, this is not on the list (although the food was made fast). They have another store on Story Rd that has better rating. -

This place existed since early 80's and I have been patronizing for decades. There was an era of proliferation of branches. They thinned out and this one establishment stayed. Modernized in decor, but basically it is the same store since decades ago.
I had my old-time favorite sate and condensed-milk espresso. Ah.... Nostalgia is what we live for.
